Description and Features

Bridges the gap between computation and mathematical reasoning for higher grades and top test scores.

Description and Features

This book is a complete curriculum for children of age 3. This colorful, 240-page book uses engaging activities and easy-to-follow explanations and examples to teach the concepts of counting, adding, and subtracting using the numbers 1 – 5.  It also teaches geometric shapes, colors, sequencing, classification, and visual tracking.  It is both a textbook and workbook that teaches all of the math skills children are expected to know entering kindergarten—and several concepts normally taught in kindergarten.

The activities spiral slowly, allowing students to become comfortable with concepts, but also challenging them to continue building their problem-solving skills.  This book teaches more than mathematical concepts; it teaches mathematical reasoning, so students learn to devise different strategies to solve problems.  It is written to the standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

We are just starting this with our fourth child. This is just the right amount for my three year old to feel like he is doing school like the big kids. We do beginning 1 and beginning 2 before starting kindergarten math. So far my other three kids have been well prepared for future math success.

my 3-year-old daughter LOVED it!

I just wanted to say that my 3-year-old daughter and I have just completed Mathematical Reasoning Beginning 1 and LOVED it. Nearly every session, I had to limit how many pages she completed! Math has fast become one of her favorite subjects to play with, and I couldn't be more proud after seeing her work day after day until the whole book was done.

My son Loves using the Mathematical Reasoning™ series. He was so disappointed when he finished his first book. When we got the next one in the mail he wanted to start right away. Its bright colors and uncluttered pages are perfect for him! When he finishes the actual questions, he likes to doodle on the colorful pages, making faces and creatures out of the shapes. So it's more than just math to him.

Mathematical Reasoning presents math in a way that makes it not only simple to learn, but also practical to apply to everyday circumstance (obviously making math more meaningful to him).

As a teacher I like the problem solving activities as these could be used over again or with several students in the classroom.

We have truly enjoyed using this book. We started out by just using it once a week but my daughter begged for more! How can I turn down a child begging for Math!?! We are now using it daily and I can see the improvement in her math.

As a math instructor, I am so happy that it looks like I may have a math-brain in my family after all! He asks to do his math school work (Mathematical Reasoning book) every day!

I don’t know about you, but I really like the idea that my child might learn how to think critically while also doing her math or language arts!
