In order to play the new JavaT demos or use your downloaded software from Critical Thinking Books & Software, you will need to have one of the following JavaT Virtual Machines on your computer. (Macintosh users should click here.)
For Microsoft® Windows® 95+ or NT® 4.0 or Windows® 2000 The latest version of Revenge of the Spiders series will only install under the JavaT 2 Version 1.3.X! If you are upgrading to this new version, use the add/remove programs control in your control panel to remove the IBM® JavaT Runtime Engine version 1.1.X from your machine. Please note: The older versions and demo versions of the Revenge of the Spiders games will not install under this new JavaT Virtual Machine. For Revenge of the Spiders Downloaded Home Use Version 1.2 Sun Microsystems® Java 2 JRE 1.3.X for Windows® (~5 Megabyte Download) Note: This is an extraordinary version of JavaT! For Revenge of the Spiders Demos or Version 1.12 or earlier Any one of these engines will suffice. (The IBM® JavaT Runtime Engine is the one that is included on the CD with the game. We feel that it offers the BEST performance for this particular type of application. The Microsoft® VM currently offers fine performance. The Sun® JRE 1.1.X is the smallest download and offers fine performance.) Sun Microsystems® JRE 1.1.X for Windows® (~2.8 Megabyte Download) OR Sun Microsystems® JavaT 2 JRE 1.2.X for Windows® (~6 Megabyte Download) For the Apple Macintosh you will first need to meet the following criteria... Mac OS 8.1 or later. Memory requirements will vary depending on how you are using Java. To run complex applets and applications, 64 MB of RAM is highly recommended. Increasing RAM to 64 MB or more will also improve performance. At least 13 MB of free disk space Here at CTB&S we have found that the more memory you have and the faster your Mac, the happier you will be with the performance of Apple's MRJ on your computer.
