Description and Features

Your students will develop real-life editing skills for superior writing and top test scores!

Description and Features

This fun, highly-effective 160-page book teaches students in Grades 6-8 grammar, punctuation, spelling, capitalization, and critical reading in a standards-based thinking approach instead of the usual drill and practice found in competing products.  Students begin with an easy-to-understand lesson followed by activities that require students to carefully analyze and edit stories, letters, or articles that contain mechanical errors covered in the lesson.  This effective method allows students to gain mastery over concepts that will translate into their own writing.

Using this book is quite easy and each lesson only takes 10-20 minutes to complete. Once the lesson is introduced, my daughter was able to set off and hunt for the specific errors. The passage tells you beforehand what type of error you are looking for and how many of each you need to find on the top right hand corner of each lesson. I especially liked this feature so that you know right off hand what you are looking for. As a bonus, Detailed answers are also included for each lesson. I love this book and all it has to offer our family! We will definitely continue to use this product in our homeschool each week as well as adding a few more selections to our line up next school year.

[My daugher] felt very much like a super sleuth as she hunted down all the errors. It was so great to watch her work as she was having so much fun! She has struggled in school most of her life, and finding her having fun in school doesn't happen all the time, so this was great! Overall, we loved Editor in Chief Level 2. You will find several review pages throughout the book. I like that they pause and check to make sure that your student is still on track. With these checks, I also was able to see where she may still be needing some extra help in certain areas.

My first thought was, “Wow! The kids think this is fun!”, I don’t get that everyday with schoolwork. My boys love anything detective-y and that’s what they imagined as they were editing the passages of Editor in Chief. Detectives on the hunt for errors. They also pretended to be editors for a magazine company. I think the boys liked competing with each other too!
