Description and Features

Bridges the gap between computation and mathematical reasoning for higher grades and top test scores.

Description and Features

Forget boring math lessons and dreaded drill sheets.  This fun, colorful 320-page book uses engaging lessons with easy-to-follow explanations, examples, and charts to make second grade mathematical concepts easy to understand.  It can be used as a textbook or a comprehensive workbook with your textbook to teach the math skills and concepts that students are expected to know in second grade—and several concepts normally taught in third grade.  This book emphasizes problem-solving and computation to build for success in higher-level math and math assessments.

Every lesson is followed with a variety of fun, colorful activities to ensure concept mastery.  The lessons and activities spiral slowly, allowing students to become comfortable with concepts, but also challenging them to continue building their problem-solving skills.  This book teaches more than mathematical concepts; it teaches mathematical reasoning, so students learn to devise different strategies to solve a wide variety of math problems.  It is written to the standards of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

I am so excited about these books. I've never been excited about a math curriculum before, and I am telling everyone I know about them. No prep, good visuals, super clear, enjoyable to do each page, not too much of one thing at a time but keeping it varied... these books are gold.

This has been a good choice for my 7-year-old as a core curriculum for math. This program has just the right amount of variety and challenge to keep him interested in learning more math, which is critical at his age. Very important concepts are taught. Parents should have a good grasp of elementary math concepts if they are going to use this curriculum in their homeschool because there is no teacher's manual, but that shouldn't be a problem for most parents.

By the end of the second grade at regular public school I realized my child is missing some important consepts. I purchased this book and we used it for a summer review to reinforce the material. What I loved most about this book - it is of the same level as a good math program in public school so I was confident we will cover everything. What my child loved the best - she could do most of the problems by herself without me explaining and she could solve the problems even if I am not at her side. I am buying the third grade book to go along with the school program this year because I trust this curiculum.

My son hated math. I saw your curriculum and gave it a try. Wow, what a great fit for my son! Your Mathematical Reasoning curriculum gave him a way to learn math that made sense to him. Thank you!

Mathematical Reasoning presents math in a way that makes it not only simple to learn, but also practical to apply to everyday circumstance (obviously making math more meaningful to him).

As a teacher I like the problem solving activities as these could be used over again or with several students in the classroom.

We have truly enjoyed using this book. We started out by just using it once a week but my daughter begged for more! How can I turn down a child begging for Math!?! We are now using it daily and I can see the improvement in her math.

As a math instructor, I am so happy that it looks like I may have a math-brain in my family after all! He asks to do his math school work (Mathematical Reasoning book) every day!
